I originally began Spectral Stones to convert a hobby into a way to make a little extra money reselling gems and jewelry I obtained during regular trips to many of the world's prime gemstone producing and processing locations. After learning that there are still some serious issues with sustainability within the industry, I decided to make the business my full time occupation, with a focus on fair trade and helping to ensure that the communities that provide the world with beautiful stones benefit from them as much as possible. This is obviously too great a task for any one person, so I am always interested in hearing from like-minded individuals who want to help develop a global framework for verifying and promoting fair trade coloured gemstones and sustainable mining and production practices.
